Float the ancient Mayan canals through the Sian Ka'an biosphere reserve.

The way we see it

South of Tulum, the Sian Ka'an biosphere keeps a secret the Maya engineered: canals cut through the mangrove a thousand years ago, still flowing, still swimmable. You float them: no paddling, just the current and the sky.

It starts at the small Muyil ruins, twenty-five minutes from Tulum, and ends with the kind of quiet reserves were invented for.

Why we recommend it

Floating a Maya trade canal through a UNESCO biosphere is the single most peaceful thing we sell: just the paddle, herons, mangrove tunnels and water so clear the shadow below you is yours.

What you'll experience

A short walk through the Muyil site, a boat across the lagoon, and then the float: vest on like a diaper (trust us, it works), feet first, half an hour of drifting you'll want to repeat immediately.
